The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia Julie Bishop will undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka from 19-20 July 2017.

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop arrived here Tuesday on a two-day visit aimed at bolstering bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the visiting dignitary also signed the Framework Agreement to join International Solar Alliance (ISA), a common platform for cooperation among sun-rich countries.

He warmly recalled the successful visit of Australian Prime Minister Turnbull to India in April 2017, and said that the bilateral relationship has deepened a lot since his own visit to Australia in 2014.

Bishop also met Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and discussed about deepening regional engagement, defence and security issues.

In a statement in Canberra ahead of her visit here, Bishop had said ways to boost defence, security and trade ties will be explored during the visit.

Addressing the second Indo-Pacific Oration here, Bishop pointed out China's cooperation in supporting the investments overseas, adding that it constitutes an important part of the ASEAN dialogue.
