Referring to Politico's story from January, where a Ukrainian-American operative consulted with DNC operatives in the American embassy in Ukraine in order to expose Russian connections to the Trump campaign, host Jonathan Karl asked Schiff if it that was acceptable for the DNC to do.

"This is about as clear evidence you could find of intent by the campaign to collude with the Russians, to get useful information from the Russians", Schiff said on ABC News' "This Week".

"If you are looking for an example of a campaign coordinating with a foreign country or a foreign source, look no further than the DNC, which actually coordinated opposition research with the Ukrainian Embassy", White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Monday. We can't accept what he says about this.

"No, it would be appropriate for the Democrats to get help from the Ukrainian government", replied Schiff.

"No, it wouldn't be acceptable for the Democrats to accept help from the Ukrainian government", Schiff admitted. Two points he wants to make.

In his interview Sunday, Schiff acknowledged that if the substance of the article were true, it would be "problematic", but he argued that it is a completely different "scale". "There's no suggestion anything of that magnitude [inaudible]". "But, again, I think to compare the two is like a bit like comparing bank robbery with writing a check with insufficient funds. Both appropriate money from the bank improperly, but a very different degree of seriousness and involvement in the case by a foreign government". This Ukrainian meeting is problematic, in your eyes? "It would be problematic to get any kind of support from a foreign government".
