The prime minister met and held baby Justin during a Calgary Stampede breakfast, a tradition where people are offered a welcoming, free meal from the local community.

The child's mother, Afraa Hajj Hammoud, said her husband Mohammed Belal thought of the name - and she liked the idea.

The family left Syria about six years ago. About 1,000 of them moved to Calgary.

According to a report in CBC News, on meeting the prime minister baby Trudeau's mother said, "It was actually very good, it was awesome". When they learned Hammoud was pregnant with what would be the couple's third child, they chose to give the baby boy the first name of Justin Trudeau as a means of thanking the Canadian prime minister for implementing the refugee policy that had enabled them and their newborn son to have a better life.

The Bilals are not the only family to name their baby after Justin Trudeau, a number of Syrian refugee families across the country have also named their newborns after the prime minister. "He is a really nice man", Hammoud told BBC News of the Canadian prime minister.

Yes, this adorable, squishy-faced little baby was named after the Canadian prime minister.

Shortly after Trudeau took office, the Canadian government agreed to accept tens of thousands of Syrian refugees - a move that saw him praised by the worldwide community.

'It will be a big story because you know, the Arabic name and the English name, there is a big difference, ' she said.

Now he's met a little boy who carries not just his first name, but the whole shebang: Justin-Trudeau Adam Bilal, born in May this year.
