Kamal Haasan, who recently criticized the Tamil Nadu Government for its corrupt administration is getting threats from various ministers including Law Minister CV Shanmugam and Minister for Municipal Administration, P Velumani.

The politician hit back at the actor's recent comments on corruption in government departments by dragging actress Gauthami to the issue.

"If you have evidence, then prove it". He added that it was also Kamal Haasan's responsibility to correct something that he found wrong in the state. He also said that the actor had no big projects in hand and would do anything for cheap publicity. "He had an affair with an actress, didn't marry her and chased her away which is against Tamil and Indian culture".

CV Shanmugam went on to make personal jibes on the actor's lifestyle nearly branding Kamal Haasan as someone who doesn't appreciate Shanmugam's beliefs of Indian values.

However, MK Stalin, the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and working president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has come to the actor's defence and said that like every other citizen, the star had the right to criticise the government. "He has no right to speak about us or the people of this country", Deecan Chronicle quotes CV Shanmugam as saying without taking Gauthami's name.

"Kamal Haasan is only reflecting the sentiments of the people".

Kamal Haasan thanked Stalin and firmly said his criticisms will continue against corruption.
