Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera says David de Gea is in good spirits amid fresh Real Madrid rumours.

The 27-year-old Spain global has grown in leaps and bounds since joining from Athletic Bilbao back in 2014, and was a vital player last season for Mourinho, making 50 appearances and winning the club's Player of the Year awards as a reward for his inspired performances.

His former Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde recently took the charge at the Catalan giants and reportedly the Spanish manager picked his former deputy as his main man.

Manchester United meet the European champions twice ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League season, once in the International Champions Cup and again in the European Super Cup.

He was quoted while speaking after United's 5-2 friendly win over LA Galaxy when he said: "There is nothing certain about Barcelona because I am very happy at United and I feel valued and focused here". If we had to play against Juventus I'd be equally motivated.

"Morata? Of course, I began to see Morata as a teammate, it was very close because the two clubs were in talks".

"Getting back into the Champions League was crucial for the club, we'll be one of the teams to beat".

He's been made the club's vice-captain and a new deal is expected to be announced during the current pre-season tour of America. "We are a strong team with a winning coach".
