A teenager has died after being pulled into an undercurrent as he tried to save a friend who got into difficulties while swimming at a waterfall.

Mr Ahmed's body was recovered after an extensive search of the Falls of Bruar, a beauty spot near Pitlochry.

The body of a 19-year-old man has been recovered from the Falls of Bruar in Perthshire.

A source who knows the teenager said seven people formed a human chain out of their garments to try to save him but were unable to hold on.

A major search and rescue operation was launched at the gorge on Wednesday evening after the teenager was reported missing.

An air ambulance and a search and rescue helicopter were also dispatched to the scene near Blair Atholl with police divers continuing the operation into Thursday morning.

He added: "Our thoughts are with his family".
