Man Utd set to beat Chelsea to £35million Monaco midfielder

United have been linked with a host of central midfielders, including Tiemoue Bakayoko of Monaco, and Tottenham's Eric Dier.

There had been speculation Manchester United might try and stymie the bid for Bakayoko - who made his senior worldwide debut earlier this year - just as they did with Lukaku, as they broke the record for a deal between British clubs of £75m to prise him away from Everton on Monday.

While they may be hesitant to sell him to Manchester United, Inter Milan have reportedly made a bid and seems to be the most likely destination for Matic.

Last week Chelsea were left reeling from the news that Romelu Lukaku had signed for United rather than return to Stamford Bridge, and the Mail says this latest humiliation has "stunned" Chelsea.

But Bakayoko had already given the game away to fans on Instagram as his latest story showed him leaving a hotel in Chelsea.

Tiémoué Bakayoko will undertake a full medical at Chelsea on Friday after the payment structure on a deal worth up to €45m (£39.7m) was agreed with Monaco to secure the France midfielder. However, Real want £70 million for the Spanish striker.

As per the Metro, the Monaco ace is expected to sign a five-year deal with the London club.

The Frenchman has been linked with a £35m move to Stamford Bridge all summer, and today the Telegraph stated that a move was almost done.

"Yet I've never had the fortune to actually work with him". He re-joined Chelsea in January 2014, and has scored 7 goals in 151 matches in that time, and winning two league titles and a League cup. It means that Bakayoko will be behind his teammates in pre-season preparation and will miss a significant part of the first half of the season.

The 22-year-old Frenchman recently posted a photo of himself standing near a jet plane, and captioned it, "Let's Go".
