Championship side Leeds United have announced that they have signed Macedonian global Ezgjan Alioski for an undisclosed fee from Swiss outfit FC Lugano.

The 25-year-old moved to Elland Road following just 18 months at the Swiss Super League team, in which he demonstrated his attacking qualities with 20 goals and 16 assists in just 54 games for the club, 16 goals and 14 assists of which coming last season to help the side to a third place finish in the table.

United paid Lugano an undisclosed seven-figure fee for the Macedonia global and have tied him to Elland Road until 2021, in line with the contracts handed to Saiz and striker Caleb Ekuban.

The new signing will now join his team-mates for their pre-season tour of Austria where they are set to face FC Ingolstadt in a friendly on Sunday.

Speaking last night, Alioski said: "I'm happy to be here".

Saiz, a former Real Madrid trainee, caught the eye of the Elland Road hierarchy last season by netting 12 times from midfield as Huesca reached the play-offs in the Spanish second tier.

This has been one of the most eagerly anticipated signings for Leeds United.

Having been on the radar for weeks now, the Macedonia international's four year deal makes him Leeds's eighth signing of the summer and shows clear intent to support Chris Wood in this seasons' goal-scoring department.
