Mexican outfit Pachuca have confirmed the arrival of Keisuke Honda on a free transfer following his release from AC Milan.

Japan global Keisuke Honda has signed for Mexico's Pachuca, the former AC Milan player announced on social media Friday, ending months of speculation about his future.

Honda had been linked with multiple leagues as his departure neared, including rumors of interest from teams in Major League Soccer as he trained in the United States.

The 31-year-old was a free agent after leaving AC Milan at the end of last season.

Pachuca are the current holders of the CONCACAF Champions League title, which means that they will compete in the 2017 Club World Cup alongside the likes of Real Madrid. While he featured heavily in his first three campaigns in Italy, he made just eight appearances in Serie A last season. Japan's talismanic playmaker continued to attract attention at CSKA Moscow after joining the Russians from Dutch side VVV-Venlo in late 2009 but failed to establish himself following his move to Milan.
