Norton and Quarterman were both on the watch list for the Bednarik award, given to the best defensive player. - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns kicker Stevie Artigue was named to the 30-player Watch List for the 2017 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, as announced on Wednesday by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.

Last year Badgley earned third-team All-ACC honors after making 21 of 26 field goals.

Slye, one of only three returning kickers in the country who were semifinalists in 2015 and 2016, needs just five more field goals to set a Hokies career record. While the fortunes of a kicker can turn on a dime, a handful have clearly separated themselves from the rest as preseason favorites based on past performances.

The Lou Groza Award is presented by the Orange Bowl Committee and will recognize three finalists during a celebration in Palm Beach County, culminating with an awards banquet on December 4.

The Baton Rouge native joined the Bulldogs back in 2014 and started right away as a freshman, connecting on 12 of 17 field goals and 39 of 42 extra points.

The 6-foot-4, 223-pounder also made all 44 point-after tries last season, moving his impeccable career mark to 141-for-141 on extra points. Last season, Carlson made 28-of-32 field goal attempts, including a pair of 53-yarders against Clemson and Vanderbilt. From this list, a panel of more than 100 FBS head coaches, SIDs, media members, former Groza finalists, and current National Football League kickers selects the top three finalists for the award by Tuesday, November 21st. If Barnes can keep getting those sheer amounts of opportunities and convert as a decent rate, he will be right in the Lou Groza mix.
