Leeds United have been given a further boost in their pursuit of Chievo Verona's Caleb Ekuban after it was today confirmed Manuel Pucciarelli has joined the Serie A side.

The signing has been made in time for the well-travelled forward to take part in the pre-season tour, which the Peacocks will leave for later this week.

Out on loan last season, Ekuban would be an addition to the options at Chievo, and with only Serge Gakpé as a striker leaving, and he hardly featured, signing Pucciarelli signals Chievo aren't counting on the Leeds linked player. His performance also in the Uefa Champions League and Europa League qualifying stages did not go unnoticed, as Leeds scouts recommended him to head coach Thomas Christiansen, who is reported to have had his official bid accepted by Chievo.

Aside Partizani, Ekuban has had loan stints with Sudtirol, Lumezzane and Renate within the past three seasons.

Wood is back in training after an extended break and he and Ekuban will make the trip to Austria on Friday.

Leeds, meanwhile, remain on the verge of signing midfielder Samuel Saiz from Huesca.
