This year's show is jam packed with announced performers including Mary J.Blige, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, Gucci Mane and Xscape.

The 2017 BET Awards are set to be a star-studded night, and with Leslie Jones at the helm, it'll no doubt be a feel-good, amusing one as well. The show will also be available to view on YouTube, and fans with cable provider logins can live stream the show on the BET Now app. "I am looking to turn this whole experience into a joyful homecoming".

This year, Beyonce leads the nominations with seven awards, followed by Bruno Mars with five nominations and Solange, Chance the Rapper and Migos with four nominations each. Between her comedic chops, a list of famous faces being honored, fashion trendsetters and musical talent, the 2017 BET awards will be must watch TV. A backstage live stream will take place on Twitter at around 8:30 pm ET.

Who run the world, especially during award season? In addition to his performance, the "That's What I Like" singer is nominated for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Coca-Cola Viewers' Choice Award, Video Director of the Year, Video of the Year and Album of the Year.

Other strong competition Sunday include best female hip hop artist, where rivals Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma will go head-to-head. That race is rounded out by the rap trio Migos for their chart-topping "Bad and Boujee" and Big Sean with "Bounce Back".

Look for a nod the major loss that hit the hip hop community this week, when legendary rapper Prodigy died during a stop in Las Vegas for a performance.

The 2017 BET Awards will air Sunday at 8 p.m. EDT on BET.

Who better to host than Ghostbusters and Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones? The comedian is pictured attending the Time 100 Gala on April 25, 2017 in New York City.
