When the ping-pong balls landed in the 2017 draft lottery, Philadelphia came away with the No. 3 overall pick this year.

"These are all the memories that got me to where I am today", Fultz said during ESPN's telecast.

"Trust the Process" has been the mantra of the rebuilding Philadelphia 76ers over the last several years. The total on how many worldwide players will go in the first round is 4.5. "We've got a defensive-minded coach who spends a lot of time talking and teaching (defense)".

But a wonderful night for freshman wasn't great for all of them. — another freshman, Arizona's Lauri Markkanen.

It's the moment many bad National Basketball Association teams have been waiting for.

It should be a very fun night.

"Me and my agent talked and we just didn't feel like they had much interest in drafting me at No. 1, so we felt like it would be sort of a waste of time for me to go out and work out if they were really not considering drafting me", Jackson said. He's the one who made Markelle Fultz a possibility, and any further movement would only reemphasize his responsibility for the outcome of this year's crop.

If Fultz does wind up with the 76ers, it sounds like he'll have no problem fitting right in.

During the draft, 60 selections will be made over two rounds to see who will officially join the future of the National Basketball Association. A record 14 were taken in the first round of last year's draft and that number should be threatened Thursday.

Things are expected to settle down a bit for at least the first two picks. There is good value on picking who will be the first college senior taken.

Bam Adebayo was the last lottery pick; he went 14th to Miami, joining De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk in the National Basketball Association.

That's a trend that could slow down after this year.

It seemed that a Fultz/Boston Celtics marriage was likely in the lead-up to the draft.

Frank Ntilikina saw his dream come true: He's a top-10 pick in the National Basketball Association draft. "We are an organization on the rise in so many different ways".

And finally, with the fifth pick in the draft, the Sacramento Kings picked Kentucky point guard De'Aaron Fox. "It's special. We're going to keep building on that". The Timberwolves traded the pick as part of a deal for All-Star guard Jimmy Butler.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — If championship rings were awarded for No. 1 draft picks, Josh Harris' fingers might look like Tom Brady's. The Sixers roster is about full and neither of the four second-rounders may play for them next season.

After shaking the hand of Commissioner Silver, Fultz remained calm but was excited when he spoke after his post-selection. When you combine that with arguably the most talented frontcourt in the league, the 76ers are sure to show fans the process is complete, with their new slogan.

There were about a dozen pictures of friends and family along with his slogan F2G, which means "Faithful to the Grind". He averaged 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game while flashing his ability to explode to the rim and shoot from mid-range and beyond the three-point line.

Fultz, who played just 25 games in college, said it was always his dream to be the top pick and wasn't bothered that Boston traded the chance to take him. She says Fultz has remained grounded despite the circus atmosphere.

The plaza outside Barclays Center is decorated in green and blue - as in Celtics green and 76ers blue.

President of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said before the draft Thursday night that point guard was the team's biggest need, and the club made a decision to address it.

That's not No. 1 overall talent in the Blog Draft, though.

"Excited to head to (City) and join the (team name)", he wrote. There is a 3.5 total for Duke players taken in the first round.

Philadelphia also owns four second-round picks, acquired in previous trades with the Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz.

The top pick could have belonged to the Nets, whose home arena hosts the draft.
