Trump's lawyer: Ignore his tweets, the President is not under investigation

This set Trump off.

When President Donald Trump abruptly fired James Comey last month, he wrote in the former FBI Director's termination letter that he was appreciative of Comey telling him, on three separate occasions, that Trump himself was not under investigation - an assertion Comey confirmed in congressional testimony.

This seemed like an acknowledgment that he was indeed under investigation.

When Wallace pointed out that Sekulow had just admitted the President was under investigation, Sekulow reiterated that he had not been notified of anything.

An assessment of evidence and circumstances will be completed before a final decision is made to launch an investigation of the president of the United States regarding potential obstruction of justice.

One is that Trump was indeed citing the Post report without crediting it as true - but for whatever reason, didn't clarify that during or right after the tweet. He has no idea whether Trump is or isn't under investigation by special prosecutor Robert Mueller. I had understood the President to be requesting that we drop any investigation of Flynn in connection with false statements about his conversations with the Russian ambassador in December. I've never known a boss who had confidence in everyone working for them and wasn't itching to fire someone. "I can't go into the particulars of our closed investigation".

This was a stinging about-face from when Gingrich praised Mueller when he was selected. Kilmeade said. "You're his lawyer". Senator Marco Rubio said Sunday that he does not expect Mr Trump to seek to fire them. This is how truth becomes degraded - by being casually disregarded.

The president tweeted last week he was being investigated, but a member of his legal team denied that.

He is attempting to defame, discredit and delegitimize.

Already, they've floated the idea that Mueller could be biased because some members of his investigative team have made campaign contributions to Democrats and because Mueller interviewed for the Federal Bureau of Investigation director's job after Trump fired Comey.

Trump's public petulance about being mistreated is in fact a public appeal, in order to rehabilitate his brand.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has given his legal team a clear direction: Fight, fight, fight.

Clearly, Trump is exasperated over what he sees as much ado about nothing.

On Sunday, Trump again referred to the probe, but dismissed it.

Trump knows that the law can be fuzzy and the legal system pliable, bending in particular under the weight of massive resources like money.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: One of Donald Trump's lawyers insisted Sunday that the president was not under criminal investigation as part of the sweeping probe into Russia's alleged meddling in American elections, despite the USA leader's tweets angrily calling the whole saga a "distraction". In a 2013 scholarly article entitled, "Ham Sandwich Nation, Due Process When Everything is a Crime", University of Tennessee Law Professor Glenn Reynolds wrote: "The actual decision whether or not to charge a person with a crime is nearly completely unconstrained". "We're going to get the full truth out there".

"I don't believe it's going to happen", he said on CNN's "State of the Union". I'm not removing the president so quickly from jeopardy.
