Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said Tuesday that the Star Wars spinoff is parting ways with directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller due to different creative visions on the film.

"Unfortunately, our vision and process weren't aligned with our partners on this project", the two said.

. We are really proud of the wonderful and world-class work of our cast and crew, ” stated Phil Lord and Christopher MilleThere haven't been any additional details yet, but stay tuned as more develops.

Lucasfilm said it's sticking to the Han Solo movie's originally planned May 2018 release.

The movie's been filming for months now and could be closed to finished, but even though the new director will inevitably want reshoots, Lucasfilm insists Han Solo will release on time. A new director will be announced soon.

Shooting has been underway in London since February, the Hollywood Reporter said.

For all the speculation that the critically despised The Book of Henry might cost Colin Trevorrow his Star Wars: Episode IX gig, it was another directing position in the Star Wars universe that got a major shake-up this week. "We are really proud of the incredible and world-class work of our cast and crew", said a statement from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have a number of big films under their belts such as 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Lord and Miller have been attached to the Han Solo anthology film since July 2015. Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have left the project.

The film is set to star Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The film is the second in the Star Wars stand-alone franchise that began with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which has grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
