Manchester United have reportedly launched a €35m (£30.6m, $39.2m) bid to secure the services of Nelson Semedo from Benfica.

The article claims that manager Jose Mourinho is determined to make the 23-year-old his second signing of this summer's transfer window.

"I don't keep track of that, it's not something I spend time on".

Mourinho also has England pair Chris Smalling and Phil Jones at his disposal, along with Argentina global Marcos Rojo, while Dutch utility man Daley Blind has slotted into central defence on occasion.

Mundo Deportivo says that Benfica planned to spark an auction between United, Barcelona, Manchester City, PSG and Bayern in order to get as much as €40m for the player.

In a Q&A with MUTV, he added: "I've spoken to him".

He told MUTV that he was ready to fight for his place in the team.

Victor Lindelof believes his ability from set-pieces could help him to start repaying Manchester United's €35 million investment in his talent.

"I don't think it's good to do so". I trust myself and it's going to be tough but I'm looking forward to it.

His constant references to United on his vast social media channels provides evidence of the enduring passion he has for United and if the reports in Portugal are true and he has made a decision to leave Real Madrid this summer, there may only be one destination for him to land.

He has lifted two Primeira Liga and one Super Lig title with Benfica and Besiktas respectively, but is hoping to further his career with a "dream" move to Old Trafford.

"I am thrilled to be joining Manchester United", said the defender, who is a superb reader of the game, strong in the tackle and able to pass the ball when he wins possession.
