On the way to his first NBA Championship, Warriors forward Kevin Durant scored 39 points on 14-of-20 shooting, including a five-of-eight showing from three-point range, to go along with seven rebounds, five assists and one steal.

Following their Game 5 loss on Monday night at Oracle Arena in an effort to extend the series, the Cavaliers were emotionally and physically drained.

While Game 4 was an incredible feat for Cleveland - they set an NBA Finals record for 3-pointers made at 24 - Game 5 was often embarrassing for the Cavaliers on defense.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry (30) celebrates after the Warriors score on the Portland Trail Blazers in game three of the first round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs at Moda Centre, Portland April 22, 2017. He hinted he would opt out of a deal that pays him the maximum he can get in order to help Golden State's chances of re-signing players such as Andre Iguodala or Shaun Livingston - two key reserves on both title teams.

"We make each other better and it's not about who gets the credit", Durant said. "I'm not taking nothing from you", said the humbled Hart.

The team's young stars, including Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson, are expected to have lengthy National Basketball Association careers. "You don't want anybody to have to sacrifice in that sense, you don't want to force anybody to take that approach but at the end of the day we know what's best for us as a group going forward". So, sorry I went on a little rant, but that's how I feel about the team. We'll see what happens. "So, I do not anticipate any issues with him staying".

Curry and Durant also heard from former President Barack Obama with congratulations, though Durant said he was most excited that among 200 messages was a text from a high school girlfriend he didn't realize still had his number.

Earlier, Warriors co-owner Joe Lacob insisted the champions will fight tooth and nail to keep Curry and Durant.

"The last couple of days I've thought about it [his future]". "It's kind of insane to think about the conversations we had this summer and going into the year about how we can both mesh and do what we do and be the players that we are".

"We had a moment". "Nothing should distract from what we were able to accomplish together. So we'll handle that accordingly".
