Chelsea To Hijack Man Utd Deal For Real Star?

United boss Jose Mourinho has put Morata at the top of his wanted list as he looks to draft in a new striker, and is reported to have already failed with one bid in the region of £54million.

There had been reports that Morata to United was agreed up on in principle, and the player himself dropped major hints on social media that he was leaving Los Blancos.

But Morata clearly considered - and perhaps still does as the deal rumbles on into next week - a move to Chelsea earlier this year.

"Calciomercato claim Manchester United, Chelsea and Inter Milan are eagerly awaiting Roma's final decision as they consider making offers for the Belgium worldwide".

United have recently become the main protagonists in Cristiano Ronaldo's latest transfer saga, with the Portuguese winger thought to favour a return to Old Trafford over any other move.

Chelsea's interest will concern Mourinho, because of the player's affection for Conte, who signed him for Juventus in 2016 before taking over the Italian national team.

The Italian apparently sees the 24-year-old Real striker as the flawless replacement for Diego Costa.

The 24-year-old told the Guardian in April: "Various Premier League coaches called to tell me to play for them". I said yeah, I'd like to, that if I had to leave I would nearly certainly go to London, but that I didn't know what Madrid would do. I spoke directly to Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte, although the norm is clubs call my dad or agent. The Lyon president did confirm that Arsenal made a nice offer for Lacazette but even so, Lyon seemingly want more for him.
