The 57-year-old music mogul - who lives close to the tower block in west London which was destroyed in an inferno last Wednesday (14.06.17) leaving at least 17 residents dead and dozens more injured - contacted numerous record labels the day after the horrific blaze to compile a list of artists to record on the single in a bid to raise money to help anyone affected by the disaster. From Harry Styles' acclaimed debut solo album to recent efforts from the likes of Liam, Niall, Zayn and Louis, One Direction is still all over the charts like always.

The song will be a cover of Simon & Garfunkels emotional single, "Bridge Over Troubled Water".

We may all be Cowell cynics but anything that raises money for Grenfell is a victor for us.

"We will record it Sunday at the latest Monday, people who can't make it physically to the studio we can record their vocals wherever they are in the world".

"If all four [One Direction] came on board, it would be as solo acts as Liam has to record in the U.S.", a source also told The Sun.

"All these things that are happening in London at the minute, and Manchester and everywhere, I think the main thing is people are pulling together".

Simon previously told Good Morning Britain, "I hope it will prick a few people's consciousness and it might spur someone on to do something else". Of the choice, Simon told The Sun: "You've got to be really sensitive about what we do here". We started 24 hours ago and already we're getting calls coming in, mainly from Brits.

Cowell also talked about what an impact the tragedy had had on him personally. He wanted to get involved with the charity single and had tweeted and Facebooked his interesting in taking part in the single that is due to be recorded this week.

Once again proving her awesomeness.

"You sit there and watch the news and go back and think, 'what the f*** do you do?'"

Many celebrities have done work on the ground too, with Rita Ora spotted at the site handing out provisions and Adele also spotted down at Grenfell with her husband.

She said: "I'm just really disappointed in the Government's response to it".

Hopefully this single will help add a little more to the much-needed pot.
