The case against Franklin is the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

A Fresno, Calif. man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly uploaded the film Deadpool onto his Facebook page allowing millions a free peek at the movie.

"Deadpool" was an American superhero film released in February 2016 and went on to become a blockbuster.

21-year-old Trevon Maurice Franklin somehow obtained a copy of the complete film and uploaded it to his Facebook page eight days after the premiere.

Due to the illegal upload, more than 5 million people could view the film copyrighted by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, the government said. It states that he "did willfully infringe the copyright" of the work "by the reproduction and distribution, including by electronic means" of the film.
