1 hurt as gunfire erupts at graduation party

A high school graduation party in MA turned risky when some uninvited guests sparked a dispute that ended with gunfire.

The victim did not cooperate with police and was taken to the hospital where he is expected to survive.

Worcester police said they went to a Narragansett Avenue home around 12:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of gunfire at a large party. Witnesses told police the party had about 100 guests and problems began when a small group showed up uninvited. After a dispute, the uninvited group began physically fighting with people present.

The 38-year-old man was shot by one of the people who crashed the party. Police said the group of party-crashers drove away and someone fired two more shots as they left. No one else was seriously injured.

The Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Unit responded, and evidence was located.
