Motorola, owned by Lenovo, has launched today mid-range Moto Z2 Play smartphone in India.

Lenovo has retained the modular design element used in the Moto Z Play and Moto Z smartphones. Thirdly, Motorola is offering an Armour box which includes a Moto Protective case, Moto Style Mod, and a screen protector. This phone can be pre-booked now on flipkart and in stores till 14th June.

To begin with, the new Moto Z2 Play features a 3000 mAh battery that is roughly 15 percent smaller and offers twenty hours less battery life between charges. Both smartphones are also water resistant, as the devices feature a water repellent nano-coating. There's a fingerprint scanner on the chin.

Geekbench is showing the Moto Z2 having a Snapdragon 835 (msm8998) with 4GB of RAM running Android 7.1.1. There is support for further storage expansion via microSD card. For selfies, it comes with a 5 Megapixel wide-angle front camera with dual tone LED flash.

As for the camera, Android Authority predicts it will have a dual-lens setup on the rear, and usually reliable tipster Ricciolo has said it will be lower in megapixel resolution, but the pixels will be larger to help it fare better with low-light shots. The rear camera is 12MP with 1.4um dual autofocus pixel, ƒ/1.7 aperture, laser auto focus, and phase detection auto focus.

All the connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and Global Positioning System are present in the phone. The TurboPower Pack brings an additional 3,490mAh battery and can charge the phone at 15W speeds. Of course, the actual figures may vary depending on the variety of the real world usage. The thing which is good is that the Moto Z2 Play variant will supports dual-SIM cards also. There's a gamepad for the avid gamers to employ their skills with physical controls packing game controller with 1000mAh battery to game longer. It also supports Motorola's preparatory Turbo Power charging technology. JBL SoundBoost 2 weighs 135 grams. There are some notable changes in the Moto Z2 Play, compared to the Moto Z Play.

The Moto Z2 Play arrived in India today and has gone up for pre-order.

The smartphone will be available via offline retail stores.

And here is a bit of surprise, the smartphone is available with a Reliance Jio offer, i.e. users can enjoy an extra benefit of 100GB of 4G data, by recharging minimum of INR 309, valid for up to 10 recharges till 31 March 2018.
