Cities, states and companies vow to stick to the Paris climate agreement

On Thursday, President Donald Trump announced that the USA would withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, which 195 nations signed onto. Does the president still believe it's a hoax? "He has received awards as a businessman, in that regard".

For his part, Mr. Pruitt said he believes climate change is real.

Amid tough questions from the White House press corps about Trump's climate change beliefs and his climate agenda, Pruitt tried to stay focused on the economy.

Instead of attacking global warming itself, Trump now says the Paris accord is a bad deal for the US.

"The fight against climate change, and all the research, innovation, and technological progress it will bring, will continue, with or without the United States", said Tusk, standing alongside Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang. Mr. Trump's announcement this week made the USA one of only three countries in the world not signed onto the accord.

And whenever NY was hit with a cold spell or snowstorm, Trump would often tweet a joke about global warming. The mayors of those cities, however, said they disagreed with Trump's decision.

Human-caused climate change and its potential to contribute to destructive sea-level rise is a partisan issue in USA politics, but Baker does not adhere to the skeptical perspective some members of the Republican party have taken on climate science.

Later, Pruitt said there were "climate exaggerators" in the media and politics who were hindering the discussions over the issue of whether global warming is an "existential threat". "I can get back to you", Spicer said. And so that's as clear as I know to give it.

"It seems to me that now is not the time to make noise about it, but rather to create conditions for joint work", Putin told an economic forum in St. Petersburg.

Spicer said Friday, when asked again, that he had not had the opportunity to have that discussion.

During his announcement, Trump said he was elected to represent the people of Pittsburgh, not Paris, referring to the Pennsylvania city that was the longtime steel capital of the U.S. It's Mr Trump's grandstanding that comes in the way of a more reasonable approach to a global initiative, and his commitment to the US Midwest and other regions which voted him in overwhelmingly, which now sees a reward in his putting American jobs and consumers first.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, announced via Twitter his decision to leave two White House advisory councils in support of the Paris Climate Agreement, according to the Associated Press (AP).

In his confirmation hearing in January, Tillerson said he thought it was "important that the United States maintain its seat at the table" on the issue of climate change, adding, "No one country is going to solve this alone".

According to the CITEPA research institute, America's renewable energy sector in America employed some 800,000 people in 2016 - almost five times more than the fossil-fuel sector.

The reporter followed up: "So is that a yes?" I was not with the president on his trip. I have not talked to the president about his personal views on what is contributing to climate change. "That's not the point".

The official then added, with a tinge of annoyance: "Can we stay on topic, please?"
