Xiaomi Mi Max 2 release date confirmed: Will it come to India?

The successor to last year's Xiaomi Mi Max will be officially unveiled next week. The super-sized phablet will be reported in China on May 25, as per the organization's most recent teaser on the Chinese person to social networking site Weibo. The phone will come equipped with a 6.44-inch display and feature a enormous, 5,000 mAh battery.

Xiaomi has a habit of releasing several storage and RAM models of its smartphone and it looks like, with the announcement of the Mi Max, things are not going to be any different.

Now the official Mi Max 2 page is enabled on the company website waiting to show all device specifications. Xiaomi keeps up the tradition of launching the mobiles in China first and then to other markets.

Nothing has been mentioned about the specifications of the next device or how many variants it will have. There might be another premium variant with Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, which will be priced higher than the standard variant.

A 5000mAh battery unit will power the phone, bigger than the 4850mAh unit seen on the Mi Max. In addition, it is expected to have a 12 MP rear camera with Auto focus as well as a 5 MP front sensor. It may be recalled that the Mi Max as well launched with two processor and RAM variants. It may also equip it with a 12MP rear camera enhanced by a Sony IMX378 sensor and dual-LED flash.

Other features that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is expected to come with are - dual speaker grilles at the bottom edge, a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack on the top edge, fingerprint scanner in the centre at the back. The device will run on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. As you can see, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will be quite a large smartphone, just like its predecessor, as they share the display size.
