UP Govt transfers 74 IAS officers, CM gets principal secretary

In yet another major rejig of the state's bureaucracy, the Uttar Pradesh government on Friday transferred 74 IAS officials, while Sashi Prakash Goel has been appointed as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The issue is like a buried corpse and let it remain buried otherwise it will spell trouble for the Samajwadi Party, " said the CM pointing to SP leader and Leader of opposition Ram Govind Chowdhary who tried to interrupt the Chief Minister.CM said the Government intends to provide houses to 27-lakh people in the State.

Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar asked for the chief minister's resignation saying Yogi Adityanath should step down if he was unable to control "deteriorating" law and order situation in the state, a PTI report said. He is among the five officers who have been repatriated to UP on the request of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

Panda was appointed on the key post by the previous Akhilesh Yadav government and had continued on it despite the new government taking over the reins in March.

Principal Secretary, Home, Debashish Panda has been relieved of his long-standing charge and has been posted as Investment Commissioner and Resident Commissioner of UP in New Delhi. He has been replaced by Alok Kumar, who has recently been repatriated to UP from centre.

Another senior bureaucrat Sadakant, has been divested of charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Planning and is only left with the Public Works Department. But he will continue to server as Noida CEO and Noida Metro Rail Corporation's Managing Director.

Sudhesh Ojha, Director, Information and Public Relations Department has also been removed.

The government also shifted the District Magistrates of Auraiya, Gonda, Faizabad, Lalitpur, Azamgarh, Ballia, Chitrakoot, Sultanpur, Ambedkarnagar, Jaunpur and Kaushambi.
