Former FBI director Mueller appointed as special counsel in Russian Federation investigation

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced Wednesday that former FBI Director Robert Mueller would lead the investigation into potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation. Once again, the real story is that our national security has been undermined by the leaking of private and highly classified conversations.

"I just fired the head of the FBI He was insane, a real nut job", Trump said, according to official meeting notes which were read aloud to the New York Times by an administration source. The reports cited a memo said to have been written by Comey documenting Trump's request. And yet, here we're confronted with fresh evidence to the contrary - with Trump admitting to Russian officials that he dismissed Comey because of the "pressure" caused by the Russia scandal.

The pair then discussed Flynn, who was under investigation at the time for his ties to Russian Federation.

And even if Trump's campaign is ultimately cleared of wrongdoing, the shadow of an investigation will hang over the White House for months or even years.

March 8, 2017: During a cybersecurity conference at Boston College, Comey says he plans to serve his entire 10-year term, quipping, "You're stuck with me for another 6½ years".

The Justice Departments appointment of Mueller as a special counsel is an acknowledgment of growing public demands to place the politically charged inquiry into the hands of an outside investigator with bipartisan support.

Several House Democrats and liberal groups are pushing for Trump to be impeached, but Pelosi said she was not encouraging - or discouraging - such talk.

Beck, the conservative media personality and former Fox News host, was an early critic of Trump and thus it is no surprise that he met the wrath of the then-presidential hopeful.

A third government official briefed on the meeting defended the president, saying Trump was using a negotiating tactic when he told Lavrov about the "pressure" he was under.

The firm represents Trump's daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, who have taken on White House jobs. Rod Rosenstein announced the decision by the Justice Department after a week of being pressured to ensure that the probe remained independent from the White House.

The appointment Wednesday followed news of Comey's memo saying that Trump had asked him to shut down the FBI's investigation into ousted National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and his Russian Federation ties.

He said he did not intend for the document to be a finding of misconduct or a "statement of reasons" to justify the firing, but he added: "I wrote it".

Trump has said he expected to nominate a new Federal Bureau of Investigation director soon, and that had been expected before his departure Friday afternoon.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday responded to the appointment of a special counsel to investigate his campaign's ties with Russian Federation by protesting his innocence and calling for the probe to conclude "quickly". Trump tweeted Thursday that he's facing "the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"

"But Trump pulled him into an embrace and Comey didn't reciprocate". That time, Trump used his favorite medium, Twitter, to get his views on Beck across.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said in a statement Wednesday that Mueller is "a respected public servant of the highest integrity".

"The comments attributed to President Trump cross a risky line", Reporters Committee Executive Director Bruce Brown said in a May 16 press release. Rosenstein denounced that decision as "profoundly wrong and unfair".

"There is no collusion between, certainly myself and my campaign, but I can only speak for myself and the Russians".
