Deadline is reporting and director Chris McQuarrie has confirmed that Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Paramount's highly anticipated action sequel Mission: Impossible 6.

Apart from Bassett, the film also stars Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson and Alec Baldwin.

On April 8, McQuarrie announced on social that he lit the fuse, and kicked off production on M:I 6. "Mission: Impossible 6" is slated to release on July 27, 2018.

Bassett recently wrapped Marvel's Black Panther, in which she plays Ramonda, the stepmother of Chadwick Boseman's title character. "Black Panther" opens on February 16.

Bassett is repped by Gersh, Lighthouse and Fox Rothschild. Murphy and longtime collaborator Brad Falchuck are set to executive produce the drama, an "ER"-style procedural about 911 operators". Late a year ago it was also announced that Bassett joined the cast of Marvel's Black Panther directed by Creed helmer Ryan Coogler, and is now a regular on the latest installment of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story, and will work with the prolific TV producer on the upcoming procedural drama 911.
