Netflix adapts fantasy saga The Witcher

The Witcher has an engaging, thrilling, and the politically charged story that touches the fringes of grey morality, much like the Game of Thrones series. According to Sapkowski himself, he has nothing against the game industry and the benefits that CD Projekt Red is receiving from the game are well deserved, but the games began to spoil my market. In addition, both are adaptations of best-selling novels.

If you're a fan of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy franchise The Witcher, you'll be happy to hear it's being brought to life as a new series on Netflix. Now, it certainly seems as though Geralt's story is neatly wrapped up, the passing of the torch to Ciri at the close of Wild Hunt (if you got the "good" ending) segueing nicely into him settling down with a lover of choice at his own private vineyard - provided you played through the Blood & Wine expansion, anyway.

"The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a unsafe world", said producers of the TV series, Sean Daniel and Jason Brown.

With Game of Thrones soon to conclude its eight season run, the timing couldn't be more ideal for a new fantasy series. So, it will leave a hole for millions of viewers who want to watch an action-packed fantasy series. As we already know, HBO's most popular fantasy show is on its last season and there are no hints that it will be extended.

Fans of the eight Witcher novels will not be disappointed as show runner Jarek Sawko stated that the book's subtexts will not be lost in the TV adaption.

Cover art for The Last Wish, Sapkowski's first Witcher short story collection. "It is a story about us, about the monster and the hero inside all of our hearts" he added. Tomasz Bagiński, the director of the trilogy's opening cinematics, will be directing at least one episode per season.

As of this writing, the premiere date of The Witcher series is not yet revealed. "We couldn't be more excited about bringing [it to] Netflix members around the world." .
