ROMA midfiedler Radja Nainggolan has emerged as a key transfer target for Manchester United according to reports.

United are keen to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to the Belgian's signature, according to Sky Sports.

With this in mind, Mourinho's interest in Nainggolan makes flawless sense: a midfielder whose first instinct on the ball is always to press forward and has, over the last few months, developed a lethal eye for goal, often arriving late to spring himself on opponents with a tantalising mixture of skill and power. Manchester United's interest, though, is at an early stage and there is no talk of a deal at the present moment. Their final bid was said to be in the region of £34m but Roma snubbed the interest, keeping Nainggolan at the club.

When interviewed by Sky Sports in March, Nainggolan confirmed he had spoken with Chelsea boss Conte, last summer, saying, "Yes. That's all I can say".

He then spoke of his desire of the Premier Legaue, he added: "I watch it a lot". A lot of my team-mates play there.

Since signing for the Italian giants in 2014 for just £7.7m, Nainggolan has gone on to establish himself as one of the most highly-regarded players in Europe. "When the window opens we will talk about it again".

However, Jose Mourinho's stance on the pursuit of Radja could become clearer after the UEFA Europa League final against Ajax, where a win would assure Manchester United of a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season.
