It's the director's second feature film, and the studio have everything crossed that it'll make enough cash to kickstart a new Universal Monsters franchise for them, with Crowe possibly returning in his own spin-off movie.

This new featurette for upcoming action-packed The Mummy offers us our first look at Russell Crowe as Mr Jekyll and Hyde. Of course, Jekyll will have his classic evil alter-ego, Mr. Hyde, who we finally see in the latest promo for the film.

Here's a synopsis: Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy. Heading this organization is none other than Russell Crowe's Dr. Jekyll. He's essentially the equivalent of what Nick Fury is to S.H.I.E.L.D. And we wanted to know that monsters existed for millennia.

With less than a month remaining until its release, Universal Pictures have released a new behind-the-scenes featurette of The Mummy. Based in the Natural History Museum, Jekyll, through Prodigium, is able to use the resources of their base of operations for his research into monsters. Creatures like the Mummy, Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster and even the creature from the Black Lagoon are all coming to the party, and it looks like Prodigium is going to play a big part in that. The cast also includes Annabelle Wallis (King Arthur, "Peaky Blinders"), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance ("American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson"), Oscar victor Russell Crowe (Gladiator), and Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Star Trek Beyond) as the titular character.

The Mummy opens in the USA and the United Kingdom on Friday 9th June.
