Five Guys is America's favorite and most well-known burger brand - at least according to The Harris Poll's annual EquiTrend Study, released Tuesday. Participants in the survey rate choices based on familiarity, quality and purchase consideration.

Still, the West Coast-based chain dropped just one spot to No. 2. Burger juggernaut McDonald's could only make it to number seven in the rankings, behind smaller operators including Wendy's at four and Culver's at five.

Five Guys are for everyone.

But do you think Five Guys is seriously the best? The chain only serves burgers, fries, shakes and drinks. "It's the classic American burger enterprise".

Both food chains have a simpler menu compared to other fast food chains that continuously add new menu items.

The chain earned national recognition in 2009 when President Barack Obama stopped at a DC location of the burger chain while taping a day-in-the-life segment with NBC Nightly News and ordered a round of burgers for his staff.

Five Guys began expanding beyond the Washington D.C. area in 2003 and came to Fresno's River Park in 2010.

It has since spread across the country, including to Colorado, and around the world with 1,400 locations. In the poll, the chain got an 81 percent familiarity rating among generation Z and millennials.
