Is Grey's Anatomy about to give way to Seattle Fire?

ABC Entertainment announced Tuesday that "Scandal" will say goodbye after season 7.

Broadcast in Ireland on Sky Living, in the USA, Scandal is now a part of ABC's Thank God Its Thursday line-up of Shonda Rhimes' dramas along with Grey's Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder.

Rhimes always envisioned Scandal as a show that did not have a long lifespan - her Grey's Anatomy is heading into its 14th season in the fall - and always saw it as a seven-season show. Following the lives of one Seattle firehouse, the show will focus on the courageous women and men who run into the fires every day as they try to balance both their work lives and duty with their personal lives and love. She will act as the executive producer for the untitled firefighter series, and the current producer of Grey's Anatomy, Stacy McKee, will be on hand to write the whole series.

"I never in my wildest dreams could have imagined that we are ending the season with Olivia Pope who she is", Washington said. With Olivia and Fitz back together, Mellie set to take over the Oval Office from her ex-husband and the return of Olivia's villainous mother, Shondaland isn't skimping on the drama just because the show is nearing its end.

"So, next year we are going all out", she continued. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) delivers huge news for Nathan (Martin Henderson), which significantly changes a lot of things between them, while Alex (Justin Chambers) is forced to make a tough decision regarding his relationship with Jo (Camilla Luddington).

"ABC Studios is so proud of Scandal, and the Shondaland TGIT franchise, which have been so important to our studio's success".

Dungey said creator Shonda Rhimes chose to end the series so that Kerry Washington, Bellamy Young, Tony Goldwyn and the rest of the cast and crew could go out on top creatively.
