D Trevor Daley (lower-body injury) continues to skate on his own, but he didn't play in Game 2 vs. Ottawa on Monday.

The team confirmed on Tuesday morning that the trio are all day-to-day with injuries, and will travel to Ottawa with no set timetable for their return. It's being speculated that the Penguins could dress seven defensemen and 11 forwards.

"I think it's a challenge this League presents".

Pittsburgh has been decimated by injuries all year-long, most notably with No. 1 defenceman Kris Letang out for the playoffs and No. 1 goaltender Matt Murray yet to play in the post-season. Every team goes through it. "That's a big part of his game - getting out of our zone, skating us out of trouble". Rust did not return to action in the game.

Mahura, 19, recorded 53 points (17 goals, 36 assists) and 57 penalty minutes in 73 games this season with Regina and Red Deer of the Western Hockey League.

The Penguins are very familiar with these types of situations, as it hasn't just been this season that they've had to adjust on-the-fly when injuries have hit their roster. The 25-year-old Rust has five goals in 14 playoff games. It's also important to have depth in your organization for times like these when you can call up players from your AHL side and have them seamlessly transition into your forward groups or defensive pairings.
