Britton said Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia reached out "to a veteran member of our team" to try to clear the air over the problems in Baltimore - while Orioles GM Dan Duquette, in a local radio interview, blamed RHP Matt Barnes and manager John Farrell for the pitch thrown at Manny Machado's head....

His first start against the Red Sox this season didn't go as well.

This will mark the third meeting between the two clubs of the 2017 season, with the Orioles holding a slim 3-2 lead.

Orioles: RHP Alec Asher (1-0, 2.16 ERA) is set to make his second start of the season Tuesday.

Baltimore Orioles' Manny Machado points upward as he scores on his solo home run off Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Rick Porcello during the sixth inning of a baseball game at Fenway Park in Boston, Monday, May 1, 2017. He allowed two runs and five hits, walking four and striking out two. He also ranks third in the majors in WHIP (0.77), second in innings pitched (37.2) and ERA (1.19), and first in K's (52). Yes, after trailing 9-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, the Yankees won the game 14-11.

Gausman will be looking to snap out of a nasty three-game skid in which his ERA has skyrocketed from a steady 3.94 to an ugly 7.50.

Machado also made solid grabs of two hard grounders, one starting a double play, and a diving stop of Chris Young's liner to end the game. He is 1-1 with a 4.02 ERA in five prior appearances (two starts) at Fenway.

Ubaldo Jimenez (1-1, 7.43 ERA) will take the mound in the series finale on Thursday versus Steven Wright (1-3, 8.25 ERA). He allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and struck out nine.

Baltimore Orioles' Jonathan Schoop, left, is congratulated by Adam Jones after scoring on a double by Caleb Joseph during the fifth inning of a baseball game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park in Boston, Monday, May 1, ... 308 average with three homers and seven RBI versus Pomeranz going into Monday's clash.

Of course, Machado is no stranger to hitting majestic home runs.

The Orioles' 5-2 victory marked the latest testy game between the AL East rivals this season, including a dustup in Baltimore just more than a week ago. According to MLB's Statcast, Machado has only had one home run trot slower than this one over that period.
