"His contributions to The Ohio State University have been significant, and he will be missed". "He is a person with high energy, infectious enthusiasm, and an impressive ability to engage with people and issues".

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith is losing one of his top aides. "It is clear to me that Boston College is that place". While some of the Eagles' teams have been successful on the national level - particularly men's and women's ice hockey - they have lagged behind in recent years in the most high-profile sports, football and men's basketball. As associate AD for development at OSU, he raised $120 million in a three-year span during the "But for Ohio State" $2.5 billion campaign.

"His work as deputy director of athletics at Ohio State and at Michigan State have given him not only appreciation of the opportunities and challenges of intercollegiate athletics, but also experience in how to respond effectively to them", BC President Father William P. Leahy said in a statement.

"I will assure you that I will put in the work to make sure our students, alumni and fans are proud of BC".

Ohio State University Deputy Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond will be the next Athletic Director at Boston College University, Boston College announced today.

Obviously he has a massive undertaking ahead, but the former Ohio State second in command appears to be the right man for the job.

Josh studied journalism at Seton Hill University.

As a native of North Carolina who grew up in Fayetteville watching ACC basketball, Jarmond said he's looking forward to working at a school affiliated with the conference.

"Martin's breadth of experience and commitment to students and coaches is extraordinary", North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham said.

"Jarmond inherits a tenuous situation at Boston College, which finds itself lagging in budget, facilities and the standings behind many of its peers in the ACC", Thamel said. I am personally delighted that Martin will be joining the ACC in such a great leadership position. "I wish him and Boston College all the best".

He went on to earn his MBA and masters in sports administration from Ohio University. Their daughter, Scarlett, is 20 months old.

"I am humbled and honored to serve as the William V. Campbell Director of Athletics at Boston College", said Jarmond in a statement. A perennial leader in NCAA student-athlete graduation rates, Boston College a year ago ranked fifth in the nation with an overall Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 95 among Football Bowl Subdivision schools and had 13 varsity teams earning a ideal GSR score of 100.

Jarmond will be introduced at a press conference on Monday, April 24, at noon in the Yawkey Athletics Center.
