Abbas will visit Washington on May 3 and will meet Trump to discuss possibilities to achieve peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said during Wednesday's news briefing.

However, on the stumbling-block issues of Israeli policy in Yehudah and Shomron and the possible move of the US embassy to Yerushalayim, Abbas did not appear in the least conciliatory.

He said Palestine was glad that the U.S. administration "listens about us from us, and not from third parties".

Trump broke with longtime USA policy in February when he withheld clear support for an independent Palestine - the elusive "two state solution". The Palestinian daily Al-Quds reported that Team Trump has prepared a set of guidelines for negotiations that is very specific in rejecting pre-conditions to the talks.

The White House announced Wednesday that Trump will meet with Abbas on May 3 for talks on efforts to breathe life into the moribund Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Those same sources also warned that the expected to demand an immediate end to the stream of fiscal support guaranteed to incarcerated or "martyred" Arab terrorists and their families by the Palestinian Authority government, and the transfer of funds to the Hamas government in Gaza. "I can live with either one", Trump said at the time. "If such document exists, it will make the delegation's visit superfluous", the senior Palestinian official said.
