Sports Mail's Alternative Team of the year also includes Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez.

The 25-year-old was the only African player to make the list, the recognition also comes despite a premature end to his season.

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea was named between the sticks while Liverpool's Sadio Mane starts on the right side of midfield with Everton's Romelu Lukaku, the league's top scorer with 24 goals so far, starts up front.

Rose's Tottenham team-mate Kyle Walker is in at right back, with Chelsea duo Gary Cahill and David Luiz forming the centre-back partnership.

Sadio Mané may have been snubbed by the PFA when he was left off the Player of the Year shortlist, but being named today to the PFA's Team of the Year might serve as something of an honourable mention nod for the impressive Liverpool attacking star.

The remaining eight places are reserved for the two teams now battling it out for the title as the full-back positions are occupied by Tottenham Hotspur's Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, with an all-Chelsea centre-back pairing of David Luiz and Gary Cahill.
