The first victim in a horrific racially motivated shooting in Fresno, California has been identified as 34-year-old Zackary Randalls.

The suspect was taken into custody in downtown Fresno on Tuesday while shouting "Allahu Akhbar", police say.

During the arrest, Muhammad shouted "Allahu akbar", or "God is great", but Dyer said the shootings had "nothing to do with terrorism in spite of the statement he made" and were based exclusively on race.

'This is exclusively based on race'.

Finally, Dyer said Muhammad fired in the direction of a bus stop where he spotted three white men.

Police said that it is too early to determine whether to label the shooting an act of terrorism. He was arrested in December 2004 in Fresno and charged with possessing three guns - a semiautomatic pistol and two high-caliber rifles - and selling crack cocaine.

His then-public defender raised questions on whether Muhammad was mentally fit to stand trial, noting that on several occasions, he had "appeared eccentric with some freakish beliefs" and appeared to have hallucinations. They are investigating the incident as a hate crime. The Arabic phrase also came up later, as the AP detailed his troubling social media posts.

"Dyer says Muhammad's Facebook page contains numerous anti-government posts and claims of hating white people".

Muhammad posted to Facebook before his shooting rampage: "MY KILL RATE INCREASES TREMENDOUSLY ON THE OTHER SIDE ASÈ ALLAH U AKBAR". He appears on the cover of the album.

Dyer said Muhammad went by the nickname "Black Jesus" and has a history of making terrorist threats.

Based on the Facebook postings and Muhammad's exclamation Tuesday, police reached out to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about the shootings, Dyer said. Muhammad is black. The victims were white.

Muhammad also shot Mark Gassett, 37, of Fresno, after he had picked up groceries at a Catholic Charities building.

Dyer said Tuesday s victims were white males - as was the security guard - and one was shot while sitting in the passenger seat of a truck. The driver wasn't hit and sped toward the police department, but his partner couldn't be saved.

Officials said at least 16 bullets were fired by the gunman Tuesday, in less than a minute, at four locations.

Two of those shot at were near Catholic Charities and were clients of the social services agency, Dyer said.

Police responding to the first shooting found Muhammad running south of Fulton, the Fresno Bee reported.

Police believe Muhammad killed a Motel 6 security guard, Carl Williams.

Police had been looking for Muhammad in the Williams killing, and Muhammad said seeing his own name and picture in a press release Tuesday morning helped spur the rampage.

Dyer said Muhammad was homeless, but a network of shelters in Fresno said they had no record of him.

The imam of the Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno says the suspect in a shooting that killed three people was not a member of his center.

He yelled "Allahu akbar" from the back seat of the patrol auto.

He had been asked to leave the motel and opened fire because he felt disrespected, the police chief said. All three victims were white.

A woman who identified herself as Taylor's grandmother said Tuesday that the family last saw him on Sunday. He said that members are shocked.

All three victims in Tuesday's killings were white. They were shot seconds apart at around 10.45am yesterday in Fresno, California. However, there was no statement made on Thursday night when he shot the security guard and killed him.

Police Chief Jerry Dyer has said the killings were fueled by Muhammad's hatred of white people.
