Preds beat Chicago 3-2, push Hawks to brink of elimination

But the Blackhawks, winners of three Stanley Cup titles in the past seven years, now trail 0-3 for the first time since the 2011 quarterfinals as a No. 8 seed. A team that this writer - and many others - predicted would win a fourth this spring.

Carrie continued to gush over the game on social media following her highly-praised rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner", documenting her time cheering on her husband and his Nashville Predators teammates across her social media accounts both before and after the Preds took home a win.

Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville still thinks he's got some horse left. It was embarrassing, losing 5-0. Now that the Blues have recently beaten the Blackhawks in the playoffs and the Predators have the opportunity to do the same, are the Blackhawks becoming a stepping stone? They aren't even underdogs. Fiala has been all over the ice since his last recall from Milwaukee, playing like a young man possessed... adding an element of effort to his unbelievable talent level.

What did you think of Carrie Underwood's Stanley Cup Playoff performance of the US national anthem? The 3-0 series lead is thanks in large to Rinne, who pitched shutouts in Games 1 and 2 and now has a.974 save percentage through the first three games.

Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and Evgeny Kuznetsov all scored for the Presidents' Trophy-winning Capitals. But the Leafs, who are younger and might be faster and hungrier, are getting even more production from their stars. We've been a good road team all year, so hopefully that comes into play here.

Scoring their first goal against Pekka Rinne this postseason would be a good start.

Carrie was good luck - The Predators pulled off a 3-2 overtime victory against the Blackhawks, bringing them one game closer to advancing in the playoffs.

Captain Jonathan Toews epitomizes the Hawks' plight. But the common denominator is that the Blackhawks haven't proven their place as the better team.

- Another overall solid defensive effort... this team's possession stats have been awesome over this series.

He also has some qualities that you just can't teach, though. And it's why coaches don't want him to think he has made it as an National Hockey League player. Since then, they have lost just eight of 32 games in regulation. The Pirates could move Andrew McCutchen, the Brewers could move Ryan Braun, the Phillies and Braves have a bunch of vets on short-term contracts and a bad first half could prompt the Royals to hold a summer sell-off of their expiring core (but they're playing well lately).

That remains to be seen after the Predators made the Hawks look old and slow for the third consecutive game.

Maybe this is just a scare, one of those wake-up calls that causes a team to look itself in the mirror. In 2014, the Kings found themselves exactly where the Hawks stand now: down 3-0 in the first round. The Blackhawks' 3-0 deficit has been deserved.

Of course, that seems like ages ago.

It's the kind of talk you don't normally here from dynasty teams.
