COLUMBUS, OHIO-Through the first two games of their opening-round series with the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Penguins had to weather a few first-period storms caused by sluggish starts. The goal in OT helped clinch game 3 and a 3-0 lead in the series.

His 20 minutes and 34 seconds of even-strength ice time did not include a goal against, and during that time the Penguins also held a 9-1 edge in high-danger scoring chances as defined by

The Penguins' Jake Guentzel had a hat trick, including a goal at 13:10 of overtime for the game victor, but Werenski made the biggest impression of the evening.

Jake Guentzel has shined since his initial recall earlier this season, but Game 3 could go down as his true coming out party. He scored with 2:27 left in the third period of Game 2 to give St. Louis a 2-1 win.

After the game, Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky questioned the decision of the referees not to blow the whistle when Werenski went down.

"We've played three pretty good hockey games and we've just to keep playing hard", Dubnyk said. That he came back into the game last night was probably not the smartest thing, despite the culture he clearly fits into. The goal was Kassian's second of the series and of his playoff career.

The former first-rounder and former reclamation project now has two consecutive game-winning goals. "It's 3-2 and we've got lots of time". While on the power play, Guentzel played the puck off the boards, and got his geometry on, banking the puck off the inside pad of Sergei Bobrovsky. He was the backbone all season for a Columbus team that relied on him to steal them games, and more often than not, that's what he did. "I think he's got a quiet confidence about him that's he's displayed from Day 1 since he's been part of the Penguins".

Luckily you don't have to undergo the pain to find out, because ice hockey player Zach Werenski has done it for you.

As if his injury didn't sting enough, whilst Werenski was momentarily down clutching his bloody face, the opposition took advantage of his absence to score.

"We were a little bit lucky", Malkin said.

Nick Bonino took a puck to his jaw or right cheek, but he was able to return, sporting a piece of protective equipment attached to his helmet. That goal gave Rust six in his past 11 post-season games. Calvert has one goal in the series.
