Christians celebrate Easter across conflict-torn Mideast

God is rolling away the stones in our lives; sometimes little by little, but rolling them away, and doing for us and the whole world what God did for the three women coming to the tomb on that first Easter morning.

"A lot of people have questions". In almost all religions, the goal is to imitate the practice and experience of the founder, but such is not the heart of the gospel; the "good news" of the Jesus movement invites humanity to experience the presence of the founder.

Rev. Lynne Silva-Breen, M.Div., M.A., LMFT, served for over 20 years as a Lutheran parish pastor. The last week of Lent is also known as the Holy Week, with prayers held on Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

"It's kind of hard for us some time though, right?" he began his homily. The denominations, which jealously guard different sections of the church, held separate services one after another.

"Still ringing in my ears today", he joked.

Thousands of worshippers flocked to Jerusalem's Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built on the site where Christians believe Jesus was crucified and resurrected. By his resurrection, Jesus Christ has set us free from the slavery of sin and death, and has opened before us the way to eternal life.

"A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world".

As soon as he spoke the name, he heard an internal voice that said, "You don't have to pray for me anymore". The gospel accounts were written early enough to have been penned by true eyewitnesses (or people who had access to them).

Ayokunle said this in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, on Sunday in Abuja. "That's just really awesome to me". "I just felt wonderful peace". I preach Jesus born of a virgin, that while he was ideal and sinless in every way, He paid our sin debt when He was crucified, buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scripture. "And that's what we celebrate on this day". Where do we suppose Jesus will show up suddenly in our lives?

Noonan closed the homily by imploring his parishioners to embrace a relationship with God, whether they were "deeply in love with Jesus" or "on the outskirts". Old ways and habits of living have given rise to a new way of being and living.

The life and teaching, and the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ put together, are a lesson on the efficacy of humility, service, self-sacrifice and true love, by which one is prepared to die not only for one's friends but also for the higher values of truth and justice.

Easter does not take place apart from the realities of life, and resurrection faith is about believing that God is doing a new and a good thing, and that we have the opportunity to participate in it.

This is the day the Lord has made, Noonan said, pausing.

The congregation sang a variety of songs to commemorate the sacred holiday.
