The Heydar Aliyev International Airport was awarded the prestigious Skytrax World Airport Awards.

This year, Hong Kong airport was ranked in fifth position, falling behind Munich Airport in Germany, Incheon International Airport in South Korea and Tokyo International Airport in Japan.

YVR was voted in the top three for Best Airport Staff Service in North America. Zurich Airport was fourth with Tokyo's Narita Airport taking fifth place.

The World Airport Awards are the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry, voted by customers in the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey. The survey and awards are independent of any airport control or input and are therefore an impartial benchmark of airport excellence and quality.

The Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 was placed third in the World's Best Airport Terminals for Low Cost Airlines category. This award considers the attitude, friendliness and efficiency of front office staff at airports. It was not easy to defeat such strong competitors as Incheon and Haneda airports, which ranked first and second previous year, and win back the honor, he added.

Overall, KLIA was placed 34th in the 2017 World's Best Airport category.

Cincinnati finished as the highest-ranked USA airport among the world's top 100 overall airport rankings, finishing 26th.

Limited (MIAL), the company that administers the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), secured the top award for the "Best Airport Staff Service" in India & Central Asia at the World Airport Awards organized by Skytrax which was held on March 14th at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Tokyo Haneda was voted the world's cleanest airport, while Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has been singled out as the most improved.

The 2017 Awards are based on 13.82 million airport survey questionnaires completed by 105 different nationalities of air travellers from July 2016 to Feb 2017. The survey evaluates traveler experiences across different airport service and product performance indicators, from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration, through departures at the gate.
